Dr Laura Denham-Jones
Physical Activity for Health and Exercise Science
I am teacher, writer, and practitioner in the field of physical activity for health. I came from a performance and dance background, earning a B.A. (Hons) degree in Performing Arts at Middlesex University. I went on to pursue an M.A. in Film at San Francisco State University and worked in film, radio, and writing for several years before shifting my professional focus to exercise and wellbeing, completing a PhD in Human Movement Sciences at the University of Salford.
My main areas of interest are mind-body practices, running, dance, and working with the older population. I am a qualified Pilates, yoga, and dance teacher with specialist training in Pilates and yoga for dancers and runners, dance for older adults, running fitness, and exercise & fitness for seniors.
I have contributed to articles for "Runner's World", "The Financial Times", "Harper's Bazaar", "The Telegraph", “The Evening Standard”, “The Metro”, numerous fitness magazines, and several books.
More recently I have developed an interest in trail running, and the benefits of this for overall wellbeing, which I enjoy documenting and sharing on social media.
I currently teach at Nuffield Health and Snap Fitness in London, as well as working for the Royal Academy of Dance (Dance School/Older Learners Program/Exams Support) and the Royal Ballet and Opera (Learning & Participation Support for Family and Schools events).
