Who Is Laura Goetzke?

I'm a born and raised Minnesotan, married my high school sweetheart named Justin, and settled down in the quaint historic town of Stillwater to begin our "Happily Ever After."

To add to our family of two, our rescue dog named Kenna joined us in the Fall of 2009. To complete our family, we welcomed our baby girl named Juliana in the Summer of 2011.

Why start a blog?

The idea for Turquoise Chicken arrived shortly after finishing Juliana's nursery. I found out how much fun and joy it brought to my life to create a home for our new family. I believe in finding good deals and doing things myself. I also believe everyone deserves to have a stylish home without going broke.

Turquoise Chicken?

Yes, I know its random. But Turquoise Chicken is code for when burning passion started inside of me. "Turquoise" is the accent color I went nuts over when designing Juliana's nursery... and "Chicken" is the unfortunate nickname for our Juliana who has brought so much light and possibility and purpose to our life.

Trust me, you won't hurt my feelings if you decide not to follow me. This blog is ultimately a diary for my hunny and I to document our DIY projects and watch our house become a home.
