Laura Gunn

Based in California, Laura Gunn is an experienced prosecutor who joined the San Diego City Attorney’s office as a deputy city attorney in 1993. Between 1995 and 2010, she functioned as a deputy district attorney, engaging in assignments with the family protection division, the special operations division, North County Branch, South Bay Branch, and the sex crimes and stalking division. Laura Gunn managed a number of responsibilities as a deputy district attorney and California prosecutor, ranging from the drafting of gun law policy proposals to conducting legal research used to educate courts and other attorneys on the state’s gun laws. She also provided analysis on a variety of sensitive matters, such as officer-involved shootings.
Ms. Gunn earned her juris doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law. During her time as a law student, she was recognized with an American Jurisprudence Award in Constitutional Law. She also holds a master of speech communication and a bachelor of arts in philosophy. Beyond her legislative activities, she functions as a member of the Muirlands Middle School Site Governance Team and School Site Council and as a volunteer driver with Mama's Kitchen, delivering food to immuno-compromised households.
