Student, Artist, and Mother in Greater Vancouver, BC
I am Laura Rutherford Luyt, and I am neurodivergent and mother to seven remarkable children: Isaac, Egan, Jacob, Amos, Otto, Zeek, and Gus. My family is deeply shaped by neurodivergence, and Amos, who was born with Down syndrome, has been an extraordinary gift to us all.
Originally trained as a Registered Nurse, I have spent the past several years focused on full-time caregiving, home education, and nurturing creativity within my gloriously busy household. I also create functional pottery in my home studio and occasionally share my work at www.lauraluytpottery.com. Life in my home is a lively balance of making art, homeschooling, advocacy, therapy, capturing moments through photography and writing, and attempting to enjoy a hot cup of coffee before it’s cold.
I’m currently studying to apply to medical school. My journey is fueled by a deep love of learning, advocacy, caregiving, and the belief that it’s never too late to learn something new.
