The nation's bestI nvestigative reporters-- who uncovered information about U.S. policy toward Iraq-- and who reported charges of sexual misconduct by a former senator were aptly rewarded last night at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government with prizes of $25,000. The annual Goldsmith Awards were given to those achieving excellence in the field of investigative reporting.

The prestigous Goldsmith prizes for investigative reporting were awarded to Douglas Frantz and Murray Waas of The Los Angeles Times for having written mroe than one hundred articles on U.S. government policy towards Iraq, and to David Boardman, Susan Gilmore, Eric Nalder and Eric Pryne of The Seattle Times for their series on allegations of sexual misconduct against Brock Adams, a former United States Senator represnting Washington. Murray Waas and Douglas Frantz also were nominated finalists for the Pulitzer Prizes, in the category of national reporting, for the same stories.
