Lauran Whitworth
Lauran is a PhD candidate in the department of Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies at Emory University, where she has also completed the requirements necessary for a certificate in Film & Media Studies. Lauran holds an M.A. in History of Art from The Ohio State University and B.A. degrees in English and Art History from the University of Georgia. Her areas of scholarly interest include feminist and queer theory, environmental humanities, and contemporary visual culture. Lauran’s dissertation, “Environmental Eros: From Ecofeminism to Eco-Queer,” uses archival materials and experimental cinema to examine the role of representations of nature in 1970s ecological feminism, the Radical Faerie movement(ca.1979 to today), and contemporary ecosexuality.
