Laura Rawlings

West Country England

Hello!

My name's Laura and I present BBC radio shows, host live events and do voiceovers.

Having a microphone's just an excuse to meet all sorts of fascinating people and have a go at things I wouldn't normally get to try. I've been floored in less than a second by a Master of martial arts, commentated on a Ginger Grand National and cycled backwards on a reverse tandem, all while live on the radio.

There are more glamorous occasions; talking fan tattoos over a pint of finest ale with Ian Rankin, finding out Mary Berry's take on the three second rule and singing along with Hugh Cornwell to Golden Brown in the fire escape of a Bath bakery.

When I'm not on the wireless, I help on my parents' farm, have a crack at growing stuff in the garden, share musings on politics, test out new gadgets, go to as many gigs/performances/happenings as is humanly possible and occasionally sleep.

I've picked up the odd award too - welly wanging champ (1994) and more recently some honours for doing good shows on BBC radio.
