I know it's a little unusual for a women to be in this industry but I like it. Probably because I'm pretty good at it. Let me explain:I'm the PM the foreman like. No, not because I'm a girl - well maybe that's some of it, but mostly it's because I get them the what they need to get the job done. Usually that means they get answers, information, material, equipment and other trades onsite when they need them.Engineers like me because I actually read the specs and can speak their language (Thanks, U.C. Berkeley and all the engineers that I've worked over the years for teaching me geekspeak).Customers like me because I listen, I mean really listen (remember that thing about being a girl - I do it naturally). After all it's their needs that the project is all about. Besides that I don't try to nickel and dime them, By the way if that's what you're looking for, I'm not interested.Business owners and general contractors like me because they get paid since the jobs are completed on time, within budget and billed properly, change-orders are pre-approved and to top it off they have a happy customer. Then, of course, they are so delighted they give me a nice bonus. Win-Win-Win.
