Laura Van de Vorst
Amsterdam
Laura van de Vorst is an energetic and driven believer in the capacity of today's generation to make a real positive change.
Initially dreaming of a career in design, at seventeen, Laura joined a pre-graduate degree at ArtEZ in Arnhem and a fashion program at Akademie Vogue in Amsterdam. Although loving the immersion in this world of creativity, her mind remained restless.
The next year she got into the award-winning Liberal Arts and Sciences program at Maastricht University. Here she became aware of the complexities that capitalism brings to our societies while learning to voice her own critical opinion. Her focal points became Strategic Marketing, Brand Identities and Media Culture. During a semester abroad in Sydney, she was taught the ins and outs of advanced media writing. It was also Australia that got her into a forward Holistic Health Lifestyle and the amazing impact of Yoga and Orthomolecular Nutrition.
After graduation she continued to follow her passion for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and was accepted for a MSc. at the Copenhagen Business School. During this time she worked as Researcher and Consultant for one of her professors and developed cases on a Swedish start-up in wind-energy and on collaborative competitions that tried to solve complex business challenges for Philips and AkzoNobel. Recently, she returned from another semester abroad, this time in Italy - at the oldest university of continental Europe, Università di Bologna.
At the moment, this globetrotter is dedicating her Master thesis to the challenge of implementing Innovation and Sustainability-Driven Business Models in the Fashion Industry. At the same time she is a writer and contributor for Nueluxe.com - a platform for high-end products and services ingrained with social and eco missions and a great movement of pioneers believing in the good we can bring to our planet and its people.
