Laurel Potter Huerta
Laurel is the Project Manager, Programs & Technology Initiatives at the WOMEN DONORS NETWORK, a community of progressive women who multiply their energy, their strategic savvy, and their philanthropic dollars to build a more just and fair world. At WDN, she manages the development of WDN’s print and online materials, technology and communications projects, and WDN’s new internship program.
Laurel graduated from UC Berkeley with degrees in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. She has a wide range of experience in the field of education, in the United States and internationally. Laurel spent her post-college years working and studying in Brazil and Spain, becoming fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese. She completed graduate coursework in a PhD program in Education at the University of Barcelona and conducted field research on children’s educational experiences and progressive education policy in low-income communities in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Additionally, she has collaborated on a variety of research projects for the University of Barcelona, including a study on the use of technology in the classroom.
Laurel's experience also includes serving as a Director of Teacher Training and Development for a network of language school in Rio de Janeiro. Prior to joining the Women Donors Network, she worked as an educational consultant in the Silicon Valley, as a freelance translator, and as a consultant for a multicultural children’s book project about environmental leaders.
