Laurel Sherrie

Arroyo Grande

Laurel Sherrie paints landscapes of treasured places, sharing her emotional response to California light while focusing on rural, coastal and wild areas of the Central Coast of California. Her work is known for rich color using traditional oils and lots of paint.

Laurel grew up in a small suburb of Chicago. She’s been creating art all her life and was an art major in college. She traveled extensively, eventually putting down roots in rural Arroyo Grande, CA, which she and her husband share with a menagerie of birds, dogs, chickens and goats.

She has been exhibiting her work around the San Luis Obispo County and Santa Barbara County for the past 17 years, showing her work at a variety of interesting venues. She is represented by Heritage Gallery West in Paso Robles and Gallery at the Network in San Luis Obispo.

“Fostering passion for and inspiring people to preserve our treasured rural and wild areas is one of my top goals for painting. I love these places and want to share my passion and vision, which I do best with oils on canvas.” Laurel forwards these goals as an active member of S.L.O.P.E. (San Luis Outdoor Painters for the Environment), who use their art to draw public attention and generate funds for preserving local lands.
