Lauren Artise

One of the greatest baseball players to ever play in the Major Leagues, Babe Ruth, lived according to his own philosophy: “Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.” My name is Lauren Artise, and I aspire to accomplish my goals in life by living each day to the fullest and pushing myself to be the best person I can be. I was born on August 19, 1994, in Columbia, Maryland. I have two siblings, one younger sister in high school and an older brother that also attends the University of Georgia. So far, I have moved twice in my life, and I have enjoyed each new location more than the last. Soccer has always been a part of my life, and I have been playing since I was four years old. From middle school to high school, I made it a personal goal to play college soccer. Unfortunately, I tore three ACLs playing soccer in high school and had to go through surgery and rehabilitation for all three tears. Consequently, my dreams of college soccer faded. However, I am glad that I went through these struggles because they made me interested in sport injuries and orthopedics, which is why I am now majoring in exercise and sports science. Even though I have suffered many injuries playing soccer, I continue to play on intramural teams in college and do not allow the fear of getting hurt stop me from doing what I love. Occasional failure is inevitable, but I am learning to overcome challenges I am faced with and improve myself each and every day.
