Lauren Lupton

USA

My name is Lauren Lupton and I am a cancer survivor. Currently in remission, I am a 21-year-old full time pre-med student with dreams of being a surgeon. When I was 18, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Originally, I was told my cancer was only a stage 2 out of 4. After I beat my cancer with 6 months of strenuous chemotherapy, a post-treatment scan revealed I had actually beat stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma. The evidence proving this was a spot in my rib cage that had previously "lit up" on a scan, but no longer did. Without constant support from my family, the doctors who worked tirelessly to help me beat my cancer, and my faith, I would not be here today. I accredit this triumph to the fact that I am here to change peoples' lives, and that is exactly what I intend to do. My fight with this disease prepared me to help people on a level most people can't. My passion for Medicine was spurred from my brush with death. As odd as it is to say, I am so thankful that I got cancer. I wouldn't be who I am today if I hadn't have been diagnosed. If I can help you with ANYTHING, do not hesitate to ask me! After all, that's why I'm here! :)
