I spent my freshman year of college in the beautifully green home of the ducks. The University of Oregon was an amazing school with the perfect program for my pre-law state of mind, however, as a Southern California native my first experience several hundred miles from home was dampened by sunless Eugene. Los Angeles has a hot and hotter year round weather pattern so I was surprised to see the clouds roll over Oregon’s campus at the beginning of October and sad when I didn’t see the sun again for another eight months. I soon learned that the damp and wet state of Oregon was not for me. Fortunately, Point Loma Nazarene University and the nearby beach are much more in line with my interests. I am very lucky that I understood myself enough to know that I was not going to be happy spending three more years of my life in the dark. Since transferring down to PLNU I have never been happier, but, I am still proud to say that once a duck, always a duck. (LG)
