Lauren Farrar
Student in Blacksburg, Virginia
I’m a Virginia Tech student interested in political journalism. I pursue topics from local public policy to national elections in my academics.
Currently, I am double majoring in multimedia journalism and music, and minoring in political science. Additionally, I'm involved in the Honors College and undergraduate research focused on digital sheet music and its intellectual property implications.
Outside of my classes, I serve as a news reporter for the Collegiate Times, Head Associate Justice in the judicial branch of the Student Government Association, an alto in the Chamber Singers at Virginia Tech and an involved member of my community. Virginia Tech’s motto, “Ut Prosim,” or “that I may serve,” is important to me and I try to live by it.
During the summer of 2017, I will be in Washington, D.C. as a Washington Semester Fellow through the Virginia Tech School of Public and International Affairs. I intend to utilize my skills in politics and journalism in my career.
