Lauren Large'

I am a Communications major at the University of Washington in Seattle interested in the Marketing, and Event planning business. My first year at UW I was an Alpha Phi sorority member and decided to become a part of the marketing team as the Public Relations Director. While being in this position I was involved with the many fundraisers and marketing events that went on at Alpha Phi throughout the academic year. My job was to market my sorority in a positive way towards potential new members and to spread the word about our organization through social media and marketing events.

I became a part of the UW communications department in 2013 when I was first interested in journalism and broadcasting. Throughout this time I was able to grow in the journalism industry and gain many different experiences of marketing a certain idea. I was able to write for the Seattle Globalist for an academic quarter publishing a story about a local dance event, dance being something I've always been passionate about. While I've always loved writing as a journalist I realized that I wanted to have more experience in the marketing and event planning side of communications. I gained many skills through journalism by learning how to approach and talk to people about ideas I was passionate and sincere about. Those skills I know will help me go further in the marketing business.

Now, I’m currently searching for an internship or job that can push me towards the direction of my future career. I want to gain as much experience as I can in this industry and put my skills and talents towards something I enjoy doing.
