Lauren Porter

My name is Lauren, I am 22 years old and an upcoming senior at the University of St. Thomas (UST) located in St. Paul, Minn.

I am majoring in Communications & Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations. As of now I have no specific job in mind for after graduation as I want to keep my mind open to whatever comes my way.

Due to my love for country music I interned for K102 (KEEY) summer of 2011 where I worked in the Promotions department. From there I began an on-campus position in the UST Box Office & Expeditions. Here we sold discounted tickets for a variety of activities one can participate in around the Twin Cities as well as tickets for on campus events. The Box Office merged with the Information Desk and transformed into Tommie Central once moved into the brand new Anderson Student Center (ASC) after it's opening in January of 2012. Once at Tommie Central I was promoted to Student Building Manager where I was responsible for closing the building at night, opening on weekend mornings, assisting guests, events and meeting groups as well as numerous other tasks.

I began managing the social media pages for the ASC during summer of 2012. I tweet for @UofStThomasASC as well as post for the UST Anderson Student Center Facebook page on a regular basis.

I am currently looking for an internship which I can participate in during my senior year in order to learn more about the Communications/ PR industry. My goal is to leave wherever I work not only feeling as if I had accomplished something but also feeling as if I had learned something valuable to see me through future career opportunities.
