Hi! My name is Lauren Rabbottini. I am a member of Academy's class of 2018. This is my 13th year attending Academy at the Lakes, and my third year in the Student Ambassador Program.

I have been a member of the varsity volleyball for the past four years. Last year we advanced to the regional semi-finals, which capped off our most successful volleyball season so far. I am also the historian for the Key Club, a member of the Science Olympiad team, and I plan on joining Junior Statesman of America (JSA), this coming year. I've also had multiple performing opportunities as a flutist in the Advanced Wind Ensemble.

Over the years, Academy has provided me with opportunities to try things that I didn't know if I would enjoy. For example, when I was in Lower Division, I learned to play the guitar with Ms. Carol as part of Academy's After School Activities program- I have been playing ever since! Because of our no-cut policy in athletics, I signed up for volleyball in fifth grade, and now enter my fifth year as a member of the varsity team.

After I graduate from Academy, I want to study to be an orthopedic surgeon. This year I will have the opportunity to apply to Academy's Introduction to Medicine Seminar. The semester-long class is taught by two MDs, and meets after school once per week. It offers an in-depth look at the medical profession through interactive experience, guest speakers and practical community field trips. This allows for students like me, who want to pursue a career in medicine, to get exposed to the field early on. This will help us decide if a career in medicine is the right path for us.

I look forward to meeting you and sharing my Academy experiences with you!
