Lauren describes herself as a religious-rule-breaker. Her highest goal in life is to challenge religious boundaries and recognize 'the sacred' in unexpected places.

She encourages generosity, acceptance and respectful curiosity among those who are considered different or other (in particular, disparate faith communities & marginalized social groups). She is particularly passionate about creating space for reconciliation between the Christian Church and the LGBTQ community.

She lives out these aspirations:
•as an artist (two parts artist : one part designer)
•as a writer (Giving-The Sacred Art, Skylight Paths)
•as a parent (of a bibliophilic rug rat & animated infant)
•as a spouse (wife of a United Methodist clergy), and
•as a sweet tea sommelier (unofficially).
