Laurie Garnes

I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several parts of the state. I have also lived in and explored other parts of the country. Some of them made me long for my Texas home, while others could have become a second home very easily. I have also lived in London, England, where I felt a deep connection to the people and the land. I could very happily return to live my life there.

I work for the Texas Division of Workers' Compensation. I write decisions regarding disputes between insurance carriers and health care providers. I enjoy the educational aspect of my job, as well as the research involved.

Two years ago, I graduated with honors, earning my Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Ashford University. I am currently working on my Master's Degree in Communications at Queens University of Charlotte, which I will finish in May 2016. I have found that I love the field of communications and that it suits me well.

I enjoy Renaissance dance, sewing period costumes, attending costumed theme parties, playing Civil War era and Irish music, and reading.
