Hi, I'm LaVar McCline and welcome to the mind of a creative. Honestly my design philosophy could be summed up as “corporate independence”. Yes, I know that can be somewhat confusing… so, plainly stated its means that I think and approach every project with the mindset of clean design - with a generous splash of creativity. Over the years, I have created webpages and animated videos, but my true passion is graphic and visual design. My strength is page layouts - transforming words and images into an compelling article or promotional piece that tells a story, and conveys the ideology and vision to the reader. My journey through design, has lead me to question the norm and stir the pot of what is “accepted” or what is “suppose to be”. As visual designers we are all creators, innovators, skeptics and explorers - constantly giving the world options by communicating our thoughts and visions through various media. We set trends and break rules, while always thinking of ways to introduce the next big thing.
Starting my graphic design career in 2001, with my BAS, I realized that the broad scope of design is based on inspiration found virtually everywhere. This could be a singular thought, a disturbing dream, a complexed problem or simply trying to find a solution. From cave paintings to the World Wide Web, the history of design is yet to be complete; with each year that passes creating another notch to its timeline. I want to model a successful career, after a few pioneers produced within this design timeline like David Carson, Milton Glaser and Giambattista Bodoni. Each took mere words and crafted brilliance. From changing the concept of simply turning a page of a magazine, to making the world take notice of typeface as art or simply loving your hometown and city.
