La Villa Pizzeria Brooklyn NY

In July 2011, New York's La Villa Pizzeria helped raise over $70,000 in support for the Julien Collot Foundation, a nonprofit organization that directly contributes to bone marrow research performed at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. La Villa Pizzeria maintains close ties with the Julien Collot Foundation; the charity is named for a family friend's son who lost his battle with leukemia. The 2011 fundraiser, held in partnership with Ferrari of Long Island and the New York City Police Department Highway Patrol, featured a parade that ended at La Villa's Park Slope, Brooklyn, pizzeria. Fully catered by La Villa Pizzeria, the final party included a speech by Dr. Farid Boulad, Medical Director of Memorial Sloan-Kettering's Pediatric Day Hospital. La Villa Pizzeria is a family-owned establishment. The family opened its first pizzeria on 5th Avenue and Bay Ridge in Brooklyn. The successful eatery attracted other family members, and other locations began appearing around Brooklyn. At the same time, the family started Gino's Italian Ices, which enjoys continued popularity among New York residents. La Villa currently maintains three locations. In 1982, the inaugural La Villa Pizzeria opened in the Lindenwood section of Howard Beach, Queens. Since then, the business has expanded to include two Brooklyn locations, on Fifth Avenue in Park Slope and on Avenue U in Mill Basin. All of La Villa's New York locations offer a wide selection of wood-fired pizzas and focaccia, as well as a variety of other classic Italian dishes.
