Lawrence Beamen, a small town Mississippi boy, has a bass, baritone voice that has been captivating hearts since the tender age of six.
When he was sixteen, Lawrence was approached by a woman who asked if he wanted to sing for Rosa Parks. He was deeply moved by the request, and the event caused him to believe that he could turn his love for music into a career.
In 2001, Lawrence founded the GBP Recording Studio in Walnut Creek, CA to work more closely with renowned artists, including Andra’e Crouch, Chuckii Booker, Narada Michael Walden, and many others. It was there that he recorded his first CD, which sold over 120,000 copies with no formal distribution.
In 2009, Lawrence was one of 40 contestants selected to compete on NBC’s hit show America’s Got Talent in the 2009 season. Lawrence’s powerful rendition of “Ole Man River” evoked powerful emotions in viewers, and brought the studio audience to their feet. He won the hearts of the judges, received millions of votes from fans across America and made it to the final round of competition.
Lawrence has also performed around the world for diverse audiences such as former President Bill Clinton, NAACP honoring Ms. Rosa Parks, Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. - Congressional Gold Medal of Honor Ceremony, Congresswoman Barbara Lee Fundraiser, Oakland International Film Festival, California Pacific Medical Center for African American Breast Health, 15th Annual American Society of Young Musicians Awards, National Anthem for San Francisco Giants – Oakland A's Golden State Warriors, to opening for music artists such as Patti LaBelle and Kirk Franklin and the Nu Nation.
