Lawyer in the Netherlands
Attorney, Consultant, and Public Speaker in Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Hello, my name is Jan Willem de Groot, and I am an attorney in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, specialized in Dutch law.
I have been a practitioner of Dutch contract law for 35 years. My practice as a lawyer in the Netherlands particularly focused on Dutch - and international commercial contracting and liability issues, including giving strategic advice and conducting litigation (before practically all the Dutch courts) and arbitration.
During these 35 years I have handled a wide range of civil (commercial) disputes, particularly with an international dimension, and I have also acted as arbitrator and mediator.
Now I head the Dutch Law Institute, an NGO publishing an online English guide on Dutch law, particularly Dutch contract law, Dutch employment law, Dutch business law and litigation in the Netherlands.
A few of these articles on Dutch law are the following:
Precontractual liability in the Netherlands
Contract error under Dutch law
Surety under Dutch law
Assignment of a claim in the Netherlands
Contract interpretation under Dutch contract law
Termination for breach under Dutch law
Limitation of actions under Dutch law
I am a fan of technology, entrepreneurship, and web development. I’m also interested in sports and reading.
