“Remain open and notice everything but wait patiently for the good ideas.” This is the design philosophy that 24 year old designer, Layken Cahall, lives by. Born and raised in Delaware, her passion towards the process of turning a vision into a 3-dimensional visualization began when her grandmother taught her how to turn an old skirt into a handbag. She gradually evolved into a person who believes that dress and design are way to say the unsaid and express emotions that would have otherwise remained concealed. Her work represents the amalgamation of modernity and whimsicality and reflects her love for philosophy, conceptual thinking and storytelling. All of these are translated into Layken’s use of style lines and shape. Primarily designing for the womenswear market, Layken refuses to believe in stuffy, uncomfortable apparel which can be prevalently seen her oversized silhouettes.
