“The Oprah of Social Work.”
Everything I put my name on is rooted in purpose, preparation, education, advocacy, and impact.
I don’t just facilitate trainings—I architect frameworks that strengthen communities, disrupt harmful systems, and help people navigate life with greater confidence, wellness, and protection.
For more than a decade, my work has lived at the intersection of mental health education, prevention, community preparedness, advocacy, and macro social work leadership. As the 2025 Adult Mental Health First Aid Instructor of the Year, I have trained more than 3,000 adults to recognize, understand, and respond to mental health challenges in their communities.
Through Train with Lay, I equip everyday professionals, organizations, caregivers, educators, and community leaders with practical, real-world skills that help them support the people they live with, love, and work with.
My work intentionally bridges multiple disciplines—from mental health and prevention education to healthcare guidance, women’s wellness advocacy, financial protection, and policy-informed social work practice.
Training, Prevention & Community Education
I design and facilitate evidence-based trainings, workshops, and prevention initiatives that strengthen mental wellness, resilience, safety, and community preparedness, including:
• Mental Health First Aid (Adult, Youth & Teen)
• CPR, BLS & First Aid
• Child & Babysitting Safety Certification
• Triple P Positive Parenting Programs
• Active Minds Youth Resiliency Programs
• Catch My Breath (Youth Vaping Prevention)
• Community Resilience Model (CRM)
• Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Level 1
• Prevention, preparedness, and resilience initiatives
These programs equip professionals, parents, schools, organizations, and community leaders with practical skills to support wellness, reduce stigma, and respond to crisis situations with confidence.
Speaking, Faciliation, & Advocacy
I facilitate workshops, trainings, and keynote presentations focused on:
• Mental health awareness and stigma reduction
• Self-care and burnout prevention
• Perimenopause and women’s wellness advocacy
• Healthy relationships and family well-being
• Community preparedness and resilience
• Workforce development and prevention education
In 2026, I will facilitate my first national workshop at the Mental Health First Aid Instructor Summit in Colorado.
Perimenopause & Women’s Wellness
As a speaker, advocate, and emerging author, I am passionate about helping women navigate the realities of perimenopause, menopause, identity shifts, self-care, and mental wellness.
I am currently writing a journal exploring the intersection of perimenopause, mental health, and self-care to help women better understand the transitions their bodies, minds, careers, relationships, and lives experience.
Insurance & Financial Protection
As an Asset Protection Social Worker and licensed insurance broker, I support individuals and families in protecting their financial future through healthcare education, insurance guidance, and long-term planning.
I provide education and enrollment support for:
• Medicare Advantage, Supplements & Part D
• Marketplace health insurance
• Life and ancillary insurance coverage
My approach is education-first—helping people make informed decisions about healthcare and financial protection without feeling overwhelmed.
Macro Social Work Leadership & MSW Supervision
I provide structured, time-limited supervision and leadership development for BSW and MSW students, focusing on:
• Ethical practice
• Macro-level social work leadership
• Community impact and advocacy
• Policy awareness
• Sustainability in helping professions
Founder & Legacy Work
I am also the founder of the Momma I Don’t Want to Go to College Skills & Trade Career Expo, a community initiative created to help individuals explore meaningful careers beyond traditional college pathways.
What started as a community conversation evolved into a movement helping young people and adults see purpose, dignity, and opportunity beyond one definition of success.
After six impactful years in Charlotte, the movement is entering a new chapter through a partnership with NCWorks Concord. The next Momma I Don’t Want to Go to College Expo is planned for March 2027 in Cabarrus County as the vision continues to grow beyond a single city and expand its community impact.
Looking Ahead
2026 is a year of intentional alignment, growth, and legacy building.
You’ll see me doing fewer things with greater intention—focusing on work that strengthens communities, creates sustainable impact, and aligns fully with the life and vision I am building.
Everything I put my name on will continue to reflect purpose, preparation, advocacy, and service.
