Layton Tamberlin
Layton Tamberlin was born in Shrewsbury in the Midlands in 1976. He grew up with an older brother who suffered from severe autism. With firsthand knowledge of the challenges facing adults with autism, Layton has a commitment to supporting services for this community, as well as an interest in the cause of autism. After completing his schooling, he studied Mathematics and Philosophy at Oxford’s Keble College.
Layton Tamberlin began his career in finance, gaining experience as an associate working in M&A at Merrill Lynch. After a four year stint with the top-tier investment bank, he assumed the position of director at TDR Capital, a private equity company established by Manjit Dale and Stephen Robertson. During his tenure with TDR, he played a significant role in all investments such as Algeco and PizzaExpress. It is recorded that the company’s IRR reached more than 70% for investments made during these years.
Layton Tamberlin’s next position as chairman of Samedaydoctor took him into private healthcare . Samedaydoctor’s first London clinic was established in 2003 in an attempt to provide an answer to the demand for accessible primary medical care. Since then the company has expanded to include clinics owned or operated in several locations in Scotland and England. One of Layton’s responsibilities as chairman is to ensure business expansion without compromising the quality or standard of care.
Along with partner Richard Sanders, Layton Tamberlin founded Sullivan Street Partners in 2010. The company, which combines the financial expertise and operational experience of both men, assumes control, through equity investments of UK companies with growth potential. As a result of Sullivan Street’s recent investment in Baby Concierge, Layton Tamberlin became a director of the business, with him and others at Sullivan Street assuming some hands-on responsibilities. Baby Concierge offers comprehensive consulting services to parents-to-be on what they will need for their new member of the family.
