Our Director of Dance brings 32 years of dance training and education to Lantern Dance. Laurie started dancing when she was 18 months old and, by the age of 7, she joined a local professional dance company. She studied in classical Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical and Tap. During her time there, she was selected to train at the International Ballet Theatre in Philadelphia, which perfected her skill in classical Ballet and Pointe. Laurie has performed in a vast majority of dance and Musical Theatre productions including Mary Poppins, Wizard of Oz, Cinderella, The Nutcracker, Bye Bye Birdie, Crazy for You, West Side Story, Grease, and Little Shop of Horrors.
Laurie is an active member of Dance Masters of America, with certification in Ballet and Jazz. Laurie is a member of the Broadway Dance Center in New York City, NY where she’s studied under various artists in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Hip-Hop and Locking. She continues to further her education in the arts so she is well versed in new methodology and styles by attending master classes and workshops.
When she isn’t dancing, she spends her quality time with her husband Kenny and their two little girls, Maddie and Lexi. She loves to inspire, mentor, and encourage others to have confidence. She’s an advocate in promoting the non-bullying message. Laurie educates her students to lead healthy lifestyles that encompass positive self-esteem, respect and compassion, all through the art of dance.
