Being buried alive in a live grave burial is a fear that many people have, as it is one of the most feared things that can happen to anybody. It happens now and again even in today's modern world, which could be surprising, but it is true. The way that it happens is that a hospital can make a mistake and declare someone who is unconscious or in a coma to be dead, and then they will be buried while still alive. Sometimes, they may wake up while in the coffin, only to die of asphyxiation soon afterward.

The grisly evidence often shows up as fingernail scratches on the walls of the coffin, or if the person inside the coffin has torn over or injured themselves trying to escape. To make sure that this horrible fate does not take place for anybody, there are some precautions that have been invented that you can take. One option is to design a coffin with an air supply from above ground – this will prevent the person who has been buried alive from dying from lack of oxygen to breathe. These systems are usually accompanied with a bell that they can ring from underground to let people know that they are still alive down there.

Another option is to bury people in an above ground crypt with an escape hatch. This will allow them to get out of the burial area on their own, as long as the crypt is supplied with sufficient air. Another option is to cremate people, as people can not wake up from appearing to be dead if they have been burned to ashes. But really, the best option to avoid live grave burial is to make sure that the person you are going to bury is really dead. Remember to check the heartbeat.
