Creature Frankenstein
Inglostadt, Germany
Background Information:
The creature Frankenstein was created by none other than the devoted scientist, Dr. Victor Frankenstein. He was assembled from mysterious dead body parts and came to life during a lightning storm. The monster is abandoned by his creator, which induces a parent/child conflict as a theme in the book. Mary Shelley portrays the Creature as a sympathetic, lonely being—almost like Beowulf or the Beast from Beauty and the Beast—who is misunderstood by society because of his terrifying physical grotesqueness.
Autobiography:
I mark my suffering through vengeance and anger. How could my Creator hate me so much? I only seek to be his humble servant, but rather I am abandoned and pushed away from my master. "I ought to be thy Adam, but I am rather the fallen angel, who thou drivest from joy for no misdeed (pg 81)." Instead, through my misery, I will attack Frankenstein and his family, until the last man is standing. It is he who has started this war between us, and he who would gladly destroy his own creature. For that, I will show no mercy and grudgingly cause destruction to his life. I curse the Creator for putting this burden upon me.
There is no refuge for me, and the only one who could end this suffering is from the man who brought me into this world. I desire another being like me, who share the same hardships I face, a significant other.
