Lavette Coney

A native Bostonian, Ms. Coney attended University of Massachusetts - Boston (BA) and Teachers College at Columbia University - Tokyo (MA) where she studied anthropology and TESOL. While teaching at The Fessenden School, most of her work has involved diversity, equity and justice in and outside of the TESOL field. She loves to travel, lived in Japan for eight years and continues to travel to Asia annually when possible. Ms. Coney is thrilled to share her ideas and thoughts on teacher education as it pertains to White privilege, adverse racism, stereotype threat and inclusive practices.
