As a recent graduate, I set off as a Thomas J. Watson Fellow, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pursue a purposeful, independent research project for one year outside of the United States. Awesome, right? The Watson Foundation hands you a big check and says, “Go, explore, don’t come back for 12 months!” (Okay, it’s a little more complicated than that.) So with the ability to design my own project, I chose to explore water sustainability strategies in Bangladesh, Singapore, Jordan, and Bolivia.
“Water Ways” is a mix of both my personal experiences (everyday sights, sounds, and smells, current issues, people I meet along the road) and water sustainability research (the menu bar has a list of resources, interviews, and information from each country).
I’m embarking on quite a journey that I believe would go to waste if I kept it all to myself. I’m going to (and already have) learned so much and I want to pass along that information. I am hoping that through my blog you’ll get a glimpse of my experiences and newly acquired insights and join me along the journey!
