When I was about 30 I had my heart broken by the "love of my life". It sent me into a 'blue funk depression'. I lost interest in everything, even briefly, fleetingly considering suicide. I immediately rejected the notion out of hand, but the fact that I had even considered it, was scary. My rejection was based on my experience in the US Marine Corps, reasoning:"I made it through That, so I can surely make it through THIS." The good news is that at around that time I was persuaded to buy a "personal leadership" training course from a company in Texas. The "Dynamics of Personal Leadership" produced by Leadership Management Institute (LMI). After only three weeks into the 14 week program (self instructional on tape) I experienced a phenomenal transformation of attitude and self-confidence. Suddenly I was out of the depression forever and I knew that I was o.k. after all. In fact, my new life goal was to become President of the USA. Two years later I was , in fact, a Candidate for US Senate in Georgia (1972) against Sam Nunn (and 17 others). What had infuriated me enough to take such extreme action was the Viet Nam War. Nixon got elected on promises to end the war, and then reneged (sound familiar?). To make a long story short, I went on to buy an LMI Franchise and I'm still in training to be President.
