My name is Leah Anderson. To begin, I am a freshman in college. I love freckles, rock climbing, Bob Dylan, and scuba diving, and I do not believe in plates or germs. I have an unnamed eight-year-old goldfish, five brothers, and one sister. My favorite movie is a tie between “A League of Their Own” and “Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back”. There is truly nothing that I won’t eat.
I dictate my life with a quote originally written by Walt Whitman, but more famously featured in (my favorite novel) Dead Poets Society by N.H. Kleinbaum. The quote reads, “That you are here. That life exists and identity, that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse.” This quote has instilled in me such a hunger for experiencing life that I often find myself committing to things like road trips, sports teams, foreign countries, and most recently, the Army! It has also made me realize how extremely fortunate I am to have the freedom to experience this existence. Essentially, I’ve won the lottery of life. But what about those whom are robbed of their freedom from an appallingly young age? My focus for this blog is set on children affected by warfare, around the globe.
