Leah C. Dixon
Long Beach, California
Born in New York, raised in California, and educated in both, Leah C. Dixon works primarily in digital mediums to produce mandalic, kaleidoscopic, and/or meditative works of intense color and multi-layered composition. A graduate of Pratt Institute and the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, they draw from their bi-coastal life experience to create work that engages the viewer coloristically, compositionally, and conceptually. A second generation computer geek, they fuse the practices of digital- and video-based art making with the foundation art practices of drawing, painting, installation, cinematography, and photography. In addition to her active art practice, Leah organizes themed group art shows and other curatorial projects that express the wide range of their creative interests and inspirations. Leah's art has been seen at the Rubin Museum of Art (NYC), Shoshana Wayne Gallery (Santa Monica), Flower Pepper Gallery (Pasadena, CA), Stone Ridge Center for the Arts (Kingston, NY), the Beacon Arts Building (Inglewood, CA), and the Hotel Maya (Long Beach, CA). Her curatorial work has been seen at Coagula Curatorial (LA) and Art Exchange (Long Beach, CA). Leah lives and works in Long Beach, California.
