I am a student at Syracuse University focusing on my Certificate of Advanced Studies as a School Media Specialist. I currently hold a M.S. in Library Science from the University of North Texas specializing in Academic Librarianship. While living in Hawaii I had the opportunity to work in an elementary school library as library assistant. I fell in love with the role of the teacher-librarian within the public school setting and how teacher-librarians are helping students to achieve success in the 21st Century. I decided I would go back to school and immerse myself in the school media specialist curriculum and hopefully obtain a position upon graduating.
Currently, I am in my next to last semester before graduating and receiving my initial teacher certification. I couldn't be happier with where I am in my life and the anticipation of entering into a profession where I can help to educate the next generation and engage them in thought provoking lessons regarding literacy, technology, information assessment, and creation.
My interests change, but many remain the same. I'm interested in gardening, physical fitness, running, traveling, inquiry learning, technology integration in education, innovation, advocacy, makerspaces, libraries, and community engagement, and the creation of information to reach authentic audiences.
