Robert W. Lebling is a native of Bethesda, Maryland, USA. He graduated from Princeton University with an A.B. in Politics and a Certificate in Anthropology. He did masters graduate studies at the University of Chicago. He has worked as a journalist in Cairo, Beirut, Jiddah, London and Washington, DC. He is a writer/editor and communications specialist, with extensive experience working in the energy and chemical industries in Saudi Arabia. He is the author of three recent books: 1) The Anomaly: A Novel of the Empty Quarter (CreateSpace, 2015). Legends of the Fire Spirits: Jinn and Genies from Arabia to Zanzibar by Robert Lebling (London: I.B.Tauris, 2010 (hb) and 2014 (pb); Berkeley, Calif.: Counterpoint Press, 2011 (pb)). The hunting falcon is named Habbat ("Swooper") and he belongs to Rashid Al-Marri of Saudi Arabia.
