Lee Leckey
Emmaus, PA
A Pennsylvania native, Lee Leckey contributes to Philadelphia-area arts and culture with a wide range of creative skills. From painting and printmaking to design and production, Lee Leckey has capitalized on her strengths to build a multi-faceted career. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking as well as a post-graduate Studio Certificate, Lee Leckey has gained exposure through a number of gallery exhibitions for her encaustic paintings, which represent an ancient medium that makes use of wax.
Known for her highly textured, layered compositions, she uses multiple mediums, including wax, oil paints, and patterned paper, to create expressive, collage-like works of art. “My work is about the process as much as the finished piece,” she says. Ms. Leckey often employs unusual methods such as torching, branding, or ironing to create a unique distressed look or texture.
Leveraging the same talents that inform her artwork to bring a strong skill set to her career in corporate design and production, she spent a few years of her early career as a web designer. Ms. Leckey had the opportunity to complete a series of projects with several local companies and organizations, including Black Box, Lehigh University, and Madrigan Consulting. She also has related experience in graphic design and typography.
Currently, as the Senior Producer for Women’s Health Magazine. With her artistic eye and leadership capabilities, she remains an integral member the production team. Prior to joining Women’s Health in 2006, she served as Producer and Special Projects Designer for Organic Style Magazine and Organic Gardening Magazine.
