Lee Bishop, Ph.D.

Madison Wisconsin

I was born and raised in Ohio, where I developed a fascination for natural phenomena like rocks, dirt, and plants. From that fertile soil, my love of science sprouted and continues to grow.

I received my B.S. from Case Western Reserve University and my Ph.D from the University of California, Berkeley.

I first became interested in science education and outreach while facilitating science activities in elementary classrooms during graduate school. Seeing the excitement in a child's eyes as she discovers why salt water conducts electricity was even more fulfilling than discovering a new chemical reaction.

I am the Education & Outreach Leader for the Center for Sustainable Nanotechnology and an instructor at Madison College. I edit the scientist-written blog Sustainable-Nano.com. In my spare time I write my personal blog Science Minus Details and am co-boss of Nerd Nite Madison.
