Brett is a seasoned software engineering leader and startup consultant based in the Greater San Diego area. With over 20 years of experience spanning Fortune 500 companies, mid-sized enterprises, and high-growth startups, he has built and led scalable technology teams, architected mission-critical systems, and driven innovation across diverse industries.
Currently, Brett is an Engineering Manager at Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation), where he leads the Loyalty Platform team behind PlayStation Stars, a program serving tens of millions of users and processing billions of daily events. Previously, he led Data Platform Tooling, empowering PlayStation’s internal and external partners with advanced player data insights, targeting, and experimentation capabilities.
Beyond PlayStation, Brett is the Founder and Principal of O’Side Systems LLC, a boutique technology consulting firm specializing in SaaS development, web and mobile applications, and startup scaling strategies. His passion lies in helping early-stage companies move beyond the Proof of Concept phase, optimizing technology stacks, and setting them up for long-term success.
Before his current roles, Brett was CTO and Principal Engineer at Hohm, Inc., where he helped launch a groundbreaking sleep technology startup. He has also held roles at Apple, Pearson School Systems (PowerSchool), and startups in healthcare IT and mobile gaming, where he played a critical role in building and scaling complex software solutions.
Outside of work, Brett is passionate about mentorship, collaboration, and volunteering. When he’s not creating software, he enjoys amateur music production, travel, and outdoor adventures—from camping and hiking to beach-walking with his wife and two children in California’s scenic landscapes.
Brett holds a Master’s degree in Software Engineering from Cal State Fullerton, with an undergraduate foundation blending computer science, IT, and social sciences.
