Senior Tax Officer and Musician in Singapore

With a keen liking for numbers and arithmetic, Matthew's passion for tax was inspired during the undertaking of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountant United Kingdom (ACCA UK) Examinations in 2010.

In 2012, Matthew joined the Nanyang Business School's (NBS) Tax Advisory Club (TAC) and aided in promoting the viability of tax as a career choice to fellow undergraduates whilst working with notable corporate sponsors (KPMG Pte.Ltd. Singapore, SIATP, IRAS etc.).

In 2014, Matthew successfully launched and managed a student-run sole proprietorship, "The Mobile Mentor", providing personalised tuition consultancy services to students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) undergoing the Cambridge GCE-Ordinary Level Examinations.

Matthew proceeded to join KPMG Services Pte. Ltd. as an Associate in 2016 within its Corporate Tax Planning and Compliance unit, handling a portfolio of clients with a total account totaling a net deliverable of SGD 148,000 covering clients based primarily in financial services and manufacturing sectors. The deliverables included the preparation of tax returns and assessor query correspondence packages to the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS)

Today, Matthew is a Senior Tax Officer with the IRAS within the Corporate Tax Division's Services Branch dealing with corporate tax law compliance for corporate taxpayers.

Matthew holds two Bachelor degrees, majoring in Economics from Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) , and Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University(UK). He pursues an active lifestyle outside of the office, indulging in Thai Boxing,Badminton, Music Arrangement as well as Model Kit Construction.
