Lee Wan Chuan is a distinguished painter with over 40 years of experience, celebrated for his ability to capture the beauty and emotion of everyday life through masterfully crafted landscapes, figure compositions, and still lifes. His artistic journey began in Taiwan, where he trained under the renowned artist Lee Shih-Chiao, honing his skills in traditional techniques and aesthetics.
Driven to expand his artistic perspective, Lee pursued advanced studies in the United States, earning a Master of Fine Arts degree from Brooklyn College in 1986. This transformative period immersed him in the vibrant American art scene, enriching his approach to creative expression.
In 1988, Lee relocated to Paris, immersing himself in the rich traditions of European art. During his two decades in France, his works were showcased at prestigious institutions, including the Salon National des Beaux-Arts, where he earned permanent exempt membership, and the Salon International du Val d’Or, where he was honored with the Jury Prize and the Special Jury Prize. His professional affiliations include memberships in the Syndicat National des Artistes Professionnels, the Cercle des Artistes Peintres et Sculpteurs du Québec, and the Oil Painters of America.
Currently, Lee serves as the Deputy Director of the Lee Shih-Chiao Art Museum in Taipei, where he is dedicated to advancing art education and fostering cultural exchange. His works reflect a seamless fusion of Eastern aesthetics and Western techniques, offering a unique and compelling vision that resonates deeply with collectors and art enthusiasts around the globe.
