Leighá got her first taste of the broadcast biz while delivering the latest news and weather to her parents via from behind the toy box.
Leighá is currently a reporter and fill-in anchor/producer at the ABC affiliate, KTRE-TV, in Lufkin, Texas.
She graduated cum laude from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor's in Broadcast Journalism and minor in Psychology.
She learned the ropes of the news business at the student-run news station, KSHU-TV 7. Leighá received the American Women in Radio and Television Scholarship her junior year and was honored with the Outstanding Mass Communication Student award at graduation.
While in college, she worked for ExxonMobil Corporation in Houston as a Special Events Coordinator, where she planned fundraising events and raised money for the United Way of Greater Houston.
Leighá interned at KTRK ABC 13 in Houston and Studio Communications, a boutique Public Relations firm. She started her broadcast career at the ABC affiliate in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
