My first teaching experience was as an outdoor trainer for Girl Scouts. The first time a woman exclaimed “I did it!” when she built a fire for the very first time had me hooked on teaching. Now I feel the same thrill when students get excited about research. I love it when they tell me, “I didn’t know research could be so easy”. Girl Scouts emphasized experiential learning when I started training and I work to incorporate the elements of experiential learning into my library instruction with active learning.
