A freelance gender and sexuality journalist and author of Sex and the Ivy, Lena has reported on sexual health, feminism, dating, relationships, and queer politics for The American Prospect, Glamour, The Boston Globe Magazine, The Sydney Morning Herald, and Salon, among others. She also hosts and produces Sex Really With Lena Chen, a webcast for the National Campaign To Prevent Teen & Unplanned Pregnancy.
A graduate of Harvard University, Lena holds a degree in Sociology and Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies. She is the co-founder of Feminist Coming Out Day, a member of the Bitch Magazine Leadership Council, and the former Health, Sex, & Relationships expert on gURL.com, Alloy Digital’s award-winning alternative web portal for adolescent girls. She is currently seeking literary representation for a memoir based on her blog.
