Lengima S. Tayai
Medical Student | CEO, Afya Yako Muhimu | Maasai Advocate | Future Epidemiologist

I am a Doctor of Medicine candidate at KCMc University and the Founder & CEO of Afya Yako Muhimu Organization, a grassroots NGO committed to delivering culturally sensitive healthcare solutions to underserved communities in Tanzania, especially among the Maasai population.

My leadership journey focuses on bridging traditional practices with modern public health systems. I have spearheaded impactful HIV prevention campaigns, maternal health workshops, and sexual and reproductive health education programs across Monduli, Simanjiro, and Longido. I work closely with youth, women, and traditional birth attendants to advance health equity and empowerment.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Pretoria and am currently conducting research on the prevalence and associated factors of anemia among pregnant Maasai women in Arusha Region.

With a strong passion for evidence-based medicine and policy advocacy, I aspire to become a leading epidemiologist and global health changemaker dedicated to community-driven solutions.
