A 41 year old Australian expat, I began work as the Secondary School Principal at IGB International School in July 2013 after two years working at the International Baccalaureate Global Centre in The Hague. Coming from a Physics background, I moved into education after a number of years studying and working in the field of skin cancer and ultraviolet radiation measurement. With a Bachelors and Masters in Applied Science (Physics) from QUT, I attained a Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary), majoring in Science, Mathematics, and Information Technology. After teaching at Coomera Anglican College in Queensland, Australia, I moved to Beijing, China and began teaching Science and Physics at Beijing BISS International School. For the final four years at the school I was the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Coordinator, and for the final two years I was also the Secondary School Principal. From Beijing I moved to The Hague to work as the Curriculum Manager for DP Physics and Mathematics for the International Baccalaureate, changing position after 18 months to work as the Curriculum and Assessment Manager for MYP Sciences and Mathematics. With two years of curriculum development behind me and a desire to move back into international education, I am excited to be setting up a new school that focusses on all four IB programmes. Information on IGBIS can be found at www.igbis.edu.my with the school opening for students in August 2014.
