Leoma has a professional background in Substance Use Disorders as a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor specializing in Chronic Relapse Issues. In response to a strong passion for leadership, Leoma is pursuing a BA to MA degree at Saint Louis University in Organizational Leadership & Development with concentration in Project Management. She is currently the Marketing Coordinator for AJPH (APHA) and is the former Outreach & Marketing Coordinator and radio personality on "It's All in Your Head" for COMTREA Comprehensive Health Center. Leoma volunteers with the St. Louis Public School District; Epworth Children & Family Services where she is a Spokesperson & Mentor. Leoma is new to the DC area and resides in Silver Spring, MD.

A former recipient of Missouri Foster Care Services, she was awarded a judicial decree of emancipation at age 16. Exhausted by the uncertainty of multiple failed placements, she learned to successfully navigate the family courts through determination and self-advocacy. As a result of her resiliency and painfully eloquent transparency of her life experiences, Leoma has become a sought after speaker in community and faith based organizations, captivating a variety of audiences, ranging from an intimate group of 3 to large groups exceeding 300. The embodiment of courage, strength, and wisdom, she speaks to key issues encountered in our communities, delivering a message of hope that bulldozes through common roadblocks to personal growth and healing.

In 2014, Leoma was the Guest Speaker for Epworth Children & Family Services Annual Pillar of Strength Award; the black tie gala raised more than $600,000 for Missouri foster care programs. Other special invitations include speaking at the home of philanthropist and Former U.S. Ambassador Sam Fox by Epworth Development Board Members and Old Warson Country Club by Friends of Epworth community ambassadors. Leoma served as Advocacy Panelist, speaking on the issues of Aging out of Foster Care alongside key policy makers, stake holders, and community residents at “Children at the Center” Advocacy Forum, hosted by Deaconess Foundation. Leoma is also a proud volunteer of The United Way of Greater St. Louis, being nominated and selected as Spokesperson/ Torchlighter for the 2014 & 2015 Annual Fundraising Campaign. The opportunity to participate with community agencies that played a vital role in her life has quickly become one of her top personal successes.
