Artist Statement — Leona Marie

My acrylic paintings are an exploration of color, emotion, and memory. Each piece begins as an intuitive gesture—a movement of brush and heart that grows into a dialogue between the seen and the felt. I am drawn to the way acrylics hold both energy and softness, allowing me to layer light and shadow, whimsy and depth. My work often reflects my love of coastal life, my fascination with human nature, and my belief in the quiet magic that connects all living things.

Through my background in psychology and storytelling, I approach painting as both meditation and communication. The textures and hues become a language of their own—expressing what words cannot. I am inspired by moments of transformation: shifting tides, fleeting reflections, and the spaces where the spiritual and natural worlds meet.

Ultimately, my goal is to create art that uplifts, invites reflection, and reminds us of the beauty that still exists in the world. Each painting is an offering—part dream, part memory, and part prayer in color.
