Hello, my name is Leslie Schwartz and I am currently a student living in Toronto, Ontario. I’m a second-year Creative Industries student at Ryerson, specializing in the Music Industry and Media Business, and minoring in English. I am interested in a variety of arts sectors including theater, music, media and film. I’ve been really passionate about theatre for a large chunk of my life and would like to find a job at a theatre company in Toronto. In high school, I was very involved in theatre activities, including stage managing, assistant directing and eventually co-student directing performances, including Soap Opera, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and The Who’s Tommy. I try and see as many musicals as I am able to in Toronto, New York and Washington DC. My focus is always on applying the concepts from my program to a career in theatre: using social media effectively, promoting live events, creative entrepreneurship, digital design, analyzing literary texts and writing critical essays. I am currently looking for a job in the theatre industry that would allow me to continue to learn about the business and the creative elements that go into staging productions, such as marketing, sales, production and all the other behind the scenes work that goes into creating each show.

In addition to theatre, I enjoy writing and travelling. I have created a blog where I write about different musicals that I have seen. This was a way to combine my love of writing and theatre. Taking pictures on my trips is a way for to always remember the places I visit. I have even had a few travel blogs and hotels pick up my photos for use on their sites.
